With a small team and a vision of a different approach, Rachel Murray opened the doors of Rachel Murray Eyecare in September 2013. Some people grow up wanting to be a rock star, a famous athlete or even the President of Ireland. Rachel’s childhood ambition was to be an Optometrist and run her own opticians. Her dream led her to live and practice all over the UK and Ireland, but her heart has always been in Sligo.
From her 10 years of experience in big high street multiples and independant practices all over the UK and Ireland Rachel had the opportunity to work with a variety of eyewear ranges and lens suppliers. Following this she saw a gap in the North West Region for a boutique opticians stocking niche eyewear and cutting edge lens technology.
We are the only opticians in Ireland offering the complete Zeiss experience. Zeiss is the world leader in optical diagnostic and lens solutions.

Each year we travel to Europe to bring you the best in international eyewear that will fit you perfectly and make you feel amazing. In December 2018, after 5 years in business and with a growing team, we made the decision to renovate our practice. This has allowed us not only more space to work, but also to work more in the way we like, which is a non self service practice.
Our approach is to take the frustration out of choosing eyewear. We know our collections like the back of our hands. Afterall, we handpick every frame. We can narrow down the options and present them to you in a way that is focused and enjoyable.

We were honoured to have won OSA Team Of The Year two years in a row in 2018 and 2019. This award was presented by OSA and voted by over 100 of our optical peers from the U.K., Europe, Australia and the U.S.A.
We are the smallest team amongst our peers, and so we were delighted to have won these awards two years running! We pride ourselves on our exemplary customer service, our dedication and flair, and we always try and make it a fun experience!

This is a huge achievement for such a young practice and we endeavour to continue to live up to this prestigious award for the next five years and beyond!
FINALIST – FASHION PRACTICE OF THE YEAR 2019
Rachel Murray Eyecare is proud to announce we have been shortlisted for Best Fashion Practice in the UK and Ireland for 2019, for the second year running! Last year we just missed out on the top spot so this year we are coming back fighting!
This prestigious award is presented by the Optician magazine, which runs annual awards for the best in the industry. This year over 200 applicants applied in several categories of which Rachel Murray Eyecare has been picked as one of the 5 finalists in their category of fashion eyewear.
FINALIST – DISPENSING OPTICIAN OF THE YEAR 2019
We are so proud of our very own (self professed) optical geek Fraser McLean, who has been shortlisted in the Optician’s Award for Dispensing Optician Of The Year 2019.
Fraser, who has been with us just shy of a year, lives and breathes his job. His favourite thing about his job is turning people who have always hated their glasses in the past into eyewear enthusiasts.
The awards will fall just after his first anniversary with Rachel Murray Eyecare, so fingers crossed for some birthday luck
